ADVANTAGES:
It is important to keep in mind that online learning has many advantages in today's 21st Century learner. Hardware, software, and web 2.0 technologies have made the facilitation of online learning seamless. Below are listed some advantages:
It is important to keep in mind that online learning has many advantages in today's 21st Century learner. Hardware, software, and web 2.0 technologies have made the facilitation of online learning seamless. Below are listed some advantages:
- Increased convenience and access to course materials and collaboration with other students.
- Students who take classes online perform as well, or better, than those who take classes on campus.
- Teachers can easily monitor individual contributions and provide prompt feedback and assessment.
- Improved access for non-full time students to continue with their education.
- Online learning is often asynchronous (self-paced learning) which allows students the flexibility to participate in activities and discussion at their convenience.
Self-managed e-learning lets you take full responsibility for your studies. You really do get out what you put in. Online courses also suit different learning styles better than traditional educational formats. In fact, studies show that e-learning is more effective and results in better student performance and confidence than standard face-to-face classroom training.
DISADVANTAGES:
Be that as it may, online learning can have it's downside and challenges as well. Below are several disadvantages to online learning:

- Students may feel isolated from their peers and teacher, lacking a sense of belonging or connection to the community.
- Teachers may be inexperienced with online delivery and methodology.
- Technology and equipment is not 100% reliable.
- Unequal opportunities for learners who do not possess the socioeconomic resources to participate.
